Stretch Velcro heel straps offer an adjustable fit for different shoe sizes, while sport style heel straps provide better comfort and flexibility for technicians who move frequently.
Sole grounders provide broader contact with the shoe sole and help maintain continuous grounding while walking. Non-marking sole grounders are designed for ESD flooring and help prevent scuff marks. High-visibility sole grounders use bright colors to improve visibility while still providing effective static control.
Disposable heel grounders are designed for temporary or one-time use. They are a practical option for visitors, short-term tasks, or situations where standard heel grounders may not fit. These single-use grounding straps help reduce static buildup without requiring reusable ESD footwear accessories.
How Do ESD Heel Grounders Work?
ESD heel grounders are worn over regular shoes. A conductive ribbon is placed inside the shoe or sock to make contact with the wearer, while the conductive sole or heel cup contacts the grounded ESD floor. This creates a controlled path for static charges to dissipate from the operator to the grounded floor system.
For proper use, heel grounders should be worn on both feet and used only in areas with grounded ESD flooring or ESD floor mats.
ESD Heel Grounder Testing and Flooring Compatibility
ESD heel grounders should be used together with grounded ESD flooring or ESD floor mats. In a footwear/flooring personnel grounding system, the resistance of the person wearing footwear while standing on the flooring system should be less than 1.0 × 10⁹ Ω, and body voltage control should also be considered during walking operations.
